This is a half-stock flintlock (now percussion) rifle signed in block letters B.Y.C. on the barrel for Bartlett Yancey Couch. Couch was the brother of Milton and Quincy Couch who were also gunsmiths. His shop was located near Evan Johnson`s shop on Wendover Avenue in the northern Jamestown area. Long rifles by this maker are extremely rare.
