Serial number 4232 on bottom of grip frame, produced from 1878-1887, .38 cal., steel frame with full nickel plate, hard rubber monogram grips (JMM), spur trigger, 3.25" ribbed 5 round barrel, tip up break-action, barrel marked J.M. MARLIN, NEW HAVEN, CT. USA PAT. JULY, 1, 1878, top flat marked 38 STANDARD 1878.
