From the New Hampshire Collection of Tatyana Archambault Tim Cherry was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1965, and grew up in Nelson, a town located among the Canadian Rockies in southeastern British Columbia. Here, he developed a love of nature and local wildlife and spent much of his youth exploring the wilderness of northern British Columbia as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Cherry's love for and keen observation of local wildlife eventually led to an interest in taxidermy and bronze casting.
Around 1988, Cherry studied with noted sculptors Dan Ostermiller and Fritz White in Loveland, Colorado. Encouragement from these mentors led him to experiment in stone carving which proved pivotal for the artist's unique approach to sculpting the simplified volumes and streamlined movement for which he is known.
At the age of twenty-five Cherry gained membership in the Society of Animal Artists. At only thirty, he was elected to membership in the National Sculpture Society and the National Sculptors Guild. Cherry continues to create sculptures that bring pleasure to his audience through works that grace their homes, offices, and public places internationally.
