Attributed to Connecticut or Rhode Island, circa 1800, mahogany veneer, white pine, deal and red cedar secondary, blind dovetailed case, hinged slant lid with molded lipped edge, loper support, divided interior with central inlaid prospect door, six valanced pigeonholes, seven small drawers, the case with four graduated cock beaded drawers, band inlay at base, deep skirt, French bracket feet.
40 x 40 x 21.5 in., case width 38.75 in.
Tight shrinkage split to lid; wear and maring to writing surface; later pulls; some plug holes; left case side with shrinkage crack; break and repair to right stile.
