Piedmont Region, circa 1820s, one part form, poplar secondary, applied cove molded cornice with reeded top edge above a stylized carved gadrooned molding, case featuring two upper hinged cabinet doors each with six window light and molded mullions, shelved interior with plate rails, the distinctive high waist featuring a center single drawer with highly figured burr walnut in the solid, the underside inscribed and dated 1827, flanked by faux panel to each side, above two hinged lower blind panel cabinet drawers, shelved interior, canted corners, applied edge molding, applied carved bracket foot facing, foot from the solid.

Note use of burl walnut at the frieze and central drawer.
Underside of drawer retaining pencil inscribed name and dated statement appearing to read:
"Robert W. / Harris [cipher] / When this see Remember / me the many a mile apart we / be this the 18 day of march / 1827"

Overall good estate condition; some shrinkage cracks at upper frieze at the vertical veneer; later hinges and pulls; crack and looseness to lower left front foot facing.
