French animalier sculptor Louis Riché born in Paris and trained by the French sculptor George Gardet (French, 1863-1939). At the age of 19, Riché exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Paris, and continued to exhibit regularly at the Salon of French Artists, particularly between the two wars. Riché became well known for his naturalistic models of dogs, and completed work in bronze as well as marble, wax, silver, and ivory. The artist worked with several leading foundries of the period, including Thiebault, Colin, Jollet, Susse, and Valsuani. The example here is an opportunity for collectors as it is one of the larger examples to come to market.
