Circa 1870s, manner of Henry Dasson (French, 1825-1896), featuring patinated bronze cherub riding atop a lion-pulled chariot, radial ormolu mounted 3 1/2 in. dial with engraved silvered Roman chapters, the eight day works with suspension spring striking on a bell, the works backplate with medallion mark of "JAPY FRERES & CIE GRD. MED. D'HONNEUR" and stamped "A.1" and "MADE IN FRANCE", resting atop an ochre marble sarcophagus form plinth with Empire style ormolu relief mounts.
18 1/2 x 17 1/2 x 6 in.
Rubbing and losses to gilt; bronze cherub with some looseness; lacking pendulum; case missing one foot, with some areas of remounting to feet mounts.
