Jim Booth was a self-taught artist known for his paintings of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Born in Charleston, he began his career after serving in the Vietnam War. Initially, he worked with Ambassador Graphics before establishing his own gallery, Four Winds Studio Gallery (later renamed Jim Booth Art Gallery), in 1977. He was a prolific artist over the course of a 50-year career. He retired in 2018 and passed away in 2021. His daughter continues to manage the Jim Booth Art Gallery, preserving his artistic legacy.
