Ronald Hayes Pearson (1924–1996) was born in New York City and studied at Alfred University’s School for American Craftsmen. He later joined the Reed & Barton Silver Company’s design program. In 1953, he co-founded Shop One in Rochester, New York, which helped launch the American Craft Movement. Pearson was a founding member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, and was elected a fellow of the American Craft Council.

Pearson’s works are held in major museums such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
