Three North Carolina Stoneware Vessels, Joseph Sand (b.1982) and Mark Hewitt (b. 1955)

Salt glazed stoneware, the first a round footed dish with lug handles, interior featuring iridescent manganese slip decoration, underside stamped "JSS/CW" for Joseph Sand and apprentice Curry Wilkinson (Randleman, NC) to underside (3 x 12 x 10 3/4 in.); the second a round footed bowl, the exterior and interior with iron and manganese slip decoration, stamped "WMH" by Mark Hewitt (1984-1995) (3 1/4 x 10 3/8 in. x 10 3/8 in.); the third a two-toned swirl pitcher, stamped "WMH" by Mark Hewitt (1984-1995) (9 in.).
