Jan Vermeiren is a Belgian-born artist who has lived and worked in South Africa since 1977. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, he began his career as a printmaker before transitioning to painting. His work blends European heritage with African cultural elements, often incorporating archetypal symbols to explore themes of identity and universality.

Vermeiren has exhibited widely in Europe, the U.S., and South Africa. His work is represented in major public collections including the Iziko South African National Gallery, Pretoria Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He continues to live and work in South Africa.

Good estate condition, very light wear to canvas corners.
