Single sheet of wove paper, Orville's personal stationary, Dayton, Ohio, dated March 24, 1928, written to Mr. James A. Vance of Philadelphia, stating: "My dear Mr. Vance: / I am very sorry that I can not sign for you the / book on flying machines which you sent. If the book had / been a good one in its day, or if it now had any value in / a historical way, I gladly would autograph it. But I do / not like to put my name on a book which I think is inex- / cusably poor. / Sincerely yours," and signed by Orville Wright in ink. The letter is museum hinged to Bainbridge Artcare mat board, matted under Crescent rag board, and presented framed and under Conservation Glass.

Sight size 6 5/8 x 6 1/2 in.; Frame dimensions 14 3/8 x 13 3/8 in.

The letter underwent conservation treatment in 1997. Documentation regarding treatment is included.

With horizontal fold line from mailing; a couple of minor (ink?) spots; evenly toned; not examined out of frame.
