Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1930, patinated spelter depicting an athletic male with spear and hound mounted atop a tiered slate and onyx inlaid base, signed "J. De RONCOURT" to the base corner.

13 x 27 1/2 x 6 5/8 in.

Active in 1920s-1930s France, de Roncourt is known for his Art Deco sculptures often depicting male athletes in motion. Simultaneously dynamic and poised, de Roncourt's œuvre remains a notable example of the sleek modernism of Art Deco.

Front right corner of base with chipping; a few other small scattered fleabites to base edge; rubbing to patina; male figure with slight looseness but stable; underside lacking one screw and with some later mounting hardware.
