Framed Antique French Gilt and Painted Cabriolet Hand Fan

Mid-late 19th century, featuring hand-colored and printed Rococo-style courting and pastoral scenes surrounded by gilt floral and foliate ornament, possible illegible signature to painted scene on one side, above pierced bone sticks and shoulders with silver gilt inlay decoration, guards with miniature ornate gilt mirror, and white thread tassel, held within a later demi-lune carved giltwood over gesso footed frame with floral bas-relief decoration and dual sided glass.

Frame does not fully close around fan; scattered areas of gilt rubbing and loss, scattered chips and cracks, and breaks and repairs with associated adhesive residue to frame; gilt loss to sticks, guards, and shoulders of fan; one guard missing mirror; aging and tears to paper leaves; dust soiling to crevices of fan and frame.
