Lot Details & Additional Photographs
For Saxbo, both marked with company cipher and model number to underside, to include a brown glazed bowl with geometric tree-form sgraffito decoration to outer rim, signed "E.ST.N" (3 5/8 x 7 1/8 in.), and a small bowl or cup featuring vertical rib motifs and white hare's fur glaze (2 1/4 x 3 in.).

Eva Stæhr-Nielsen was one of the leading designers at the Saxbo factory. Joining shortly after it was established by Nathalie Krebs in 1930, the two women made Saxbo into the most important independent small pottery companies in Denmark. Krebs developed the glazes and Staehr-Nielsen created the shapes. Several generations of Danish potters worked there and helped to establish the classic Saxbo style of simple stoneware shapes and "oriental" style glazes before the company closed in 1968.
