From the Collection of Nancy Doll, Greensboro, North Carolina

Adele Wayman is a painter and installation artist based near Greensboro, North Carolina. A former Hege Professor of Art at Guilford College, she taught for 40 years and developed courses blending art and ritual. Her paintings often reflect Zen influences and environmental themes, as seen in her Swamped! series inspired by the Haw River wetlands.

Wayman studied at Vassar College, the Art Students League, Corcoran School of Art, Tyler School in Rome, and UNC Greensboro. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she has held residencies at Yaddo and the Millay Colony. She continues to create art at her studio, Forest Light.
