New York artist and Pop-Art sculptor, Gary Mirabelle, draws inspiration from life, where each piece is a tour-de-force display of consummate technical skills he has at his command. Mirabelle began to lay a foundation in the 1970s as he learned anatomy, modeling, casting, and armature building during the course of his studies at the State University of if New York at New Paltz and at The Art Students League in New York City. Starting with clay models, Mirabelle uses a combination of molds, slip casts, and armatures to create the life size figures and tableaus, completing them with costumes and staging them in settings becomes a form of installation art in dialogue with contemporary realism.
Mirabelle has completed numerous commissioned works and has exhibited at various galleries including Stricoff Galleries, Ltd., New York City; Jill Vickers Gallery, Aspen, Colorado; Art SPectrum, Miami, Florida; Richard Danskin Gallery, Palm Desert, CA; among many others.
