Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, sky blue ground silk
jifu, finely embroidered with nine resplendent four clawed dragons worked in metallic gold thread and interspersed with
ruyi clouds, lotus blossoms, bats, and eight Buddhist treasure motifs, all above a lower border of
lishui stripe surmounted with mountains representing the universe in gold wrapped thread, the collar and horseshoe cuffs embellished with dragons, gold buttons line the edges, lined in light blue, overall a spectacular example of the high standards achieved in silk embroidery during the Qing dynasty.
