Bayard Wootten (1875-1959) was a self-taught photographer from New Bern, North Carolina. As a single mother, she earned money to raise her family through portrait photography. Later, she spent time traveling through her home state and capturing life in its rural areas. Wootten was hired to do the illustrations for several books, and became known for her images of southern gardens and architecture in addition to its people.
Light wear to corners and spine ends; expected toning to interior with occasional finger grime, mark, or other light handling wear, a few spots of foxing (mostly on endpapers), and a couple of pages with slight waviness; a clean and lovely copy; very good.
