James Loder, known as “Loder of Bath,” was an English painter recognized for his sporting and animal subjects. A largely self-taught artist, Loder specialized in depictions of horses, dogs, cattle, and hunting scenes, as well as occasional portraits. He worked primarily in oil, but many of his paintings were also reproduced in engravings and aquatints that circulated widely.
