The first, a one-page TLS from Calvin Coolidge, on Coolidge's personal letterhead, Northampton, Massachusetts, dated July 30, 1929, addressed to Dr. Charles W. Richardson at Massachusetts General Hospital, writing to him as follows: "My dear Doctor: / I have your letter of the twenty-sixth. / I hope you are making every progress in recovering / from your illness. / I had a colles break in my wrist but it / is almost well and will be all right. / I had a letter from Mrs. Richardson and one / from your grandson on my birthday. I miss seeing you, / of course, but I am glad to be out of Washington. / With kindest regards, I am / Very truly yours, / Calvin Coolidge."

the second, a two-page ALS from First Lady Grace Coolidge, on White House stationary, 1920s, addressed to Dr. Richardson, offering her thanks and discussing her health and her mother; with the original envelope.

11 x 8 1/2 in.; 6 7/8 x 4 3/8 in.

Calvin Coolidge letter with expected creases and folds, toning, a couple of closed tears and one small (5/16-in.) tear, very light grime, some scuffs and marks in one corner visible on recto and verso, and a couple of minor spots of foxing. Grace Coolidge letter with horizontal fold line from mailing, slight offsetting, a minor mark and spot of foxing to verso; envelope with some handling wear including light soiling and some damp stains. Both very good.
