One page, letter of condolence from President Hoover on a single folded sheet, typed on White House stationary and dated August 27, 1929, writing to the widow of Charles W. Richardson of Washington, D.C. as follows: "My dear Mrs. Richardson: / I am distressed to learn of the death / of your husband and wish to extend to you my / deep and sincere sympathy. I trust that you / will be given the strength to bear this, the / greatest sorrow that can come to you. / Yours faithfully, / Herbert Hoover."
