Circa 1940s, polychrome painted wood sculpture of a horse with paper halter, mounted to rectangular wood plinth, signed to bottom right of plinth, felt to underside.

From the Estate of the late Peggy Augustus, Old Keswick, Virginia Calvin Roy Kinstler was from Baltimore, Maryland, and was primarily a wood sculptor of animals. His works were reproduced in bronze and Royal Copenhagen china. Apparently he was under contract with Abercrombie and Fitch for a period during the 1940s.
Paint loss and break to paper halter; break and repair with associated restoration and fleabites to all legs and head of horse; small loss to tip of tail.
