1981, patinated bronze, edition numbered "6/15," signed and dated "Susie Todd 81," mounted atop a black stone base.

9 x 9 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.

From the Estate of the late Peggy Augustus, Old Keswick, Virginia

Born in Pennsylvania in 1925, Susie was a lifelong equestrian. Even at a young age, she put her talents to use - along with working in a factory making incendiary bombs, she drove a team of roan Percheron draft horses hauling a wagon load of forged picks to a freight train bound for the Army during WWII. In 1954, Susie married famous entrepreneur Burt K. Todd (1924-2006). The couple settled and spent the rest of their life in Ligonier, Pennsylvania riding and raising horses. Her love of animals was translated into her paintings and sculptures, many of which were commissioned and remain in private collections today.

Good estate condition; some light areas of greening to a few crevices.
