Sold by Park Sherman of Chicago, this unusual calendar/clock combination has a page for each day from July 3, 1941 through January 6, 1942, thereby of course containing the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The clock is set within the calendar's die-cut leaves, which are protected with a top board revealing the clock's face. The last page of the calendar is owner-stamped "J.D. Jewell/Comdr. (MC), U.S. Navy/Ship's Service Officer."

California during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Commander Jesse D. Jewell disregarded his own injuries to administer aid to hundreds of wounded officers and men. Jewell's devotion to duty earned him the Navy Cross and a Purple Heart.
