Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Depicting Dr. Benjamin. A. Cheek, Surgeon, 22nd NC, seen here in civilian clothing. Included with the image is a period slip of paper from a document reading in part "Dr. B. A. Cheek. Surgeon Regt. 22 NC. 1861." Dr. Cheek was promoted to Assistant Surgeon on June 15, 1863 and became a full surgeon on November 15, 1864. A facsimile of Mrs. Cheek's "Application for Pension" in 1921 states her residence being Asheville, NC.

Private Ohio Collection

Excellent tonal contrasts and nearly pristine surfaces reveal much detail. A rare and imposing image.
