This painting is based on the original completed by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer in 1831, portraying "Bob", a heroic Newfoundland dog credited with saving over twenty people from drowning and honored by the Royal Humane Society. Celebrated for its lifelike detail and emotional resonance, the painting became iconic and helped popularize the breed. Originally a part of the Tate Collection in London in 1887, it was damaged in a 1928 flood, later restored, and is now on long-term loan to The Kennel Club Art Gallery in London.

Overall good condition, with a small patch, light professional retouching, light age cracking, stretcher lines; minor separating to frame at one corner.
