That Devil Forrest (New York: Harper Brothers, 1959), 8vo, 614 pp., gray linen boards, this famous biography of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was first printed in 1899; plus:
With Sabre and Scalpel (New York & London: Harper & Brothers, 1914), 8vo, 535 pp., red linen, recounting the author's transition from soldier to surgeon, a trimmed endpaper is inscribed: "An autograph souvenir / of the dear friendship of / Lake Placid days. / John Allen Wyeth / 1915," below which, in a different hand, is a presentation to the recipient's mother.
Private Ohio Collection Light wear to the boards of the 1914 book; overall very good condition.
