Silk on fine linen, worked primarily in cross-stitch, the upper register with pious verse: "The loss of gold is much / the loss of time is more / the loss of Jesus Christ / is such / that no man can restore," with central Adam and Eve motif surrounded by symmetrically placed detached motifs including flowering plants, baskets of flowers, trees, angels, animals, hearts, etc., the lower register stating "Ann Kirby Her Work / Finished May 12 / Aged 10 Year / 1841," the sides with trailing strawberry borders and the upper and lower edges with trailing foliate borders, framed under glass in birds-eye wood frame.
