Mid-Atlantic, circa 1830, the pair featuring an all over original painted black field with gilt highlight, the crest with floral and leaf, the pierced horizontal splat with stars, down-swept arms, turned column supports, bow-front seat rail with rush seat in mustard paint, pierced convex front stretcher with ball motif repeating back splat, shaped rockers.

30 x 20 x 25.5 in.

From the Estate of the late Peggy Augustus, Old Keswick, Virginia

Both rush seats are old but later (one with later plywood bottom support); expected paint wear and minor losses especially at arms; all over alligatoring to original surface.
