From the Estate of the late Susan C. Frankenberg, Hillsborough, North Carolina Peter Loose is a self-taught artist who is known for his unique birdhouses and animal shaped dulcimers, as well as his signature bright and brash paintings featuring unconventional palettes and saturated, vivid, dot-filled surfaces. Loose's work reflects his deep love of animals and time working as a naturalist in Athens, Georgia. Most of his works are made with repurposed, found objects like roofing shingles, old canvas, window screens, and discarded wooden boards.
His work has been featured at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville, GA, and the Folk Art Park in Atlanta. Loose's pieces have also found homes in private collections across the country, particularly among folk art enthusiasts who are drawn to his whimsical style.
Good estate condition.
