Circa 1870, patinated bronze mantel urns, modeled in high-relief and featuring classical theme Putto vignettes surrounded by oak leaf, acorns, and floral buds, the conforming removable covers with finials of kneeling putti presenting a chaplet, mounted atop a pedestal base with spreading foliate ormolu mounts, surmounting a polished black slate socle raised on four gilt feet, one vase retaining later hand inscribed label to underside, otherwise unmarked.
Each 12 1/4 x 5 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.
Feet possibly later, and/or with later gilt; verdigris to interior; slight rubbing to patina to undersides of lids and putti finials; a few scattered chips and surface marks to slate pedestals.
