16 x 20 in.

From the Estate of the late Susan C. Frankenberg, Hillsborough, North Carolina

Folk and “Outsider” artist Sam Ezell has become a force in the local arts communities of Durham and Orange Counties, as well as the surrounding areas. He took up painting in 2008 when an artist friend requested he create something for her, and since then the demand for his colorful, bold works keeps growing.

Ezell began painting everyday objects in the folk art tradition – household fixtures like jars of pickles and mayonnaise, farm animals, and church scenes. When he lost ninety five percent of his vision in one eye, he began to paint larger works that are abstract in composition but retain the same vibrant palette. Ezell’s work is popular at auctions, galleries, and antique dealers throughout the Southeast.

A few minor small surface marks to upper register; otherwise good estate condition.
