A Private High Point, North Carolina Collection

The first volume of the Tauchnitz Collection of British Authors was published in 1842, with thousands of volumes eventually following for both this along with the German publisher's subsequent series. The books were international English-language editions, offering titles from authors such as Dickens, Thackeray, and many others to those outside the United States and the UK.

Some scuffing to boards and wear to extremities, spines with occasional discoloration from age; interiors with toning and foxing/spotting (sometimes heavy), occasional gutter cracking, infrequent small tear, folded corner, or other expected handling wear, and a few leaves trimmed short; one volume with an area of damp staining, one with half-title extended, and one volume with title page and preface loose; the Dickens and Crawford volumes with the bookplate of Ernest Flagg (possibly the American architect who was known for his work on the Scribner Building in Manhattan and the Corcoran Gallery of Arts in D.C.); overall sturdy little volumes with some leaves still partially unopened.
