Léon Germain Pelouse was a prominent French landscape painter associated with the Barbizon school, celebrated for his vibrant and immersive depictions of the French countryside. Born in Pierrelaye, France, he was largely self-taught and began his career as a decorative painter before turning to fine art. He achieved critical acclaim and success during his lifetime, debuting at the Paris Salon in 1865 and earning Salon medals in 1873, 1876, and 1878.
