This painting is based on a detail found in Fable of the Satyr and the Peasant, a work created by Jordaens between 1640 and 1646. It is currently in the collection of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.

The painting has been lined, with some professional restoration, slight age cracking, and light retouch visible under UV light.
