Private Collection, Edenton, North Carolina Bruno Cote was a landscape painter celebrated for his vibrant depictions of Canada’s wilderness. Born in Québec City, he began his career in the family advertising business as a letterer and art director before turning to painting in the mid-1960s. In 1978, he moved to Baie-Saint-Paul in the Charlevoix region, where the surrounding natural beauty deeply influenced his work. From the 1980s onward, he traveled extensively across Canada—from the Rockies and prairies to Labrador’s icy coasts—capturing the country’s diverse landscapes with bold colors, dynamic brushwork, and a masterful use of light. Côté’s works are housed in major institutions including the Musée d’art Contemporain de Montréal, Johns Hopkins University, and the Scottish Parliament.
