British, circa late 18th century, lead glazed creamware with transfer, scenes and text celebrating the United States Navy, the phrase “SUCCESS TO THE / INFANT NAVY / OF / AMERICA” within a laurel cartouche beneath the spout above the patriotic Great Seal of the United States eagle. One side's transfer depicts Washington and Liberty standing beside a Map of the United States. Benjamin Franklin, “Justice” and “America” stand on the other side of the Map, and a winged Herald above is shown carrying a laurel wreath and ribbon with the name “WASHINGTON”. The other side with an unidentified American naval vessel with polychrome highlights flying a sixteen star American Flag.
