The 1834 Needlework Sampler of Elizabeth Amy Morris

Attributed to Main Line Philadelphia, silk on light tan linen, with alphanumeric upper register above a verse from Proverbs above a row of fruitful and floral motifs with butterflies, then a pious verse flanked by flowering plant and avian motifs, above the signature "Elizabeth Amy Morris / 18 Finished 34" surrounded by floral swags tied with a bow and flowering plants, the inner border a satin stitched zigzag design, with outer vining floral border, presented in birdseye wood frame.

Frame 20 1/2 x 17 in.; sight 16 1/4 x 13 in.
