Folk Art Embroidery, Signed Sophia Ann Cain

Colored threads on fine cotton, borrowing elements from Quaker schoolgirl samplers such as a pious verse, circlets of flowers and birds, a vining border, with "This is an Emblem / of love" stitched to either side of a large cluster of imaginative flowers below the name, "Sophia Ann Cain", mounted to board and presented in gold tone frame.
