England, mid 17th century, silk on linen canvas, with metallic lace and sequin border, the image worked primarily in tent stitch, depicting a central seated female holding flower surrounded by various flora and fauna, including a recumbent lion, horse, goat, birds, snail, and a font to the lower right, beneath a castle at the upper left corner complete with sun, clouds, and rainbows, framed within an antique carved frame, the reverse retaining Sotheby's label and collection labels of both Nina Weil and Josephine Borthwick, along with D.M.& P. Manheim New York dealer label.

Frame dimensions 10 1/4 x 13 in.; sight size 8 x 10 1/2 in.
