Francis “Blackbear” Bosin was a painter, muralist, and sculptor who was born in Oklahoma and grew up among both Kiowa and Comanche traditions. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, he settled in Wichita, Kansas, where worked in commercial design and began a career in painting. His art is recognized for bridging the Native traditions of the Southern Plains Flatsyle with with modern artistic expression.
