2006, pale and iron oxide dyed clay, threads rolled by hand, monogrammed and dated to the underside, of cylindrical basket form with the continuous white spiral coil intersecting the darker vertical fretwork spokes. Together with a 2007 monograph catalog of the artist titled Malene Mullertz: New Works.

Malene discusses a similar Piano Basket in her catalog Malene Mullertz: New Ceramic Works: "In the same way as a wasp builds its nest, round and round - strips are added and slowly but surely the shape appears."

Malene Müllertz was born in Copenhagen and trained at the Kunsthaandvaerkerskolen in Copenhagen between 1966 and 1970. She continued at the Kunstakademiets Designskole between 1973 and 1975. She worked at the Bing & Grondahl Porcelain Manufactory and was an instructor at the Kunsthaandvaerkerskolen in Copenhagen and at the Kunsthaandvaerkerskolen in Kolding. Malene is member of 'Keramiske Veje.'

Her works have been exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts, Copenhagen; The Danish National Art Foundation, Copenhagen; Museum Het Princessehof, Leeuwarden; Nationalmuseum, Stockholm; Sammlung Thiermann, Hamburg; Palmer Museum of Art, Pennsylvania State University; Victoria and Albert Museum; among many others.
