1996, bronze owl sculpture with a mottled white/gray patina, signed "[copyright symbol] 96 CMA 3/25 Sf" to base of owl, mounted to a wood plinth.

7 1/4 x 6 x 3 1/2 in.

Born in 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware, Allmond holds degrees in agriculture and agronomy from the University of Delaware and in law from Temple University. He served in the United States Coast Guard and worked as an agronomist, seed analyst, field man for a food processing business, and manager of a crop dusting service. He practiced law for more than 30 years and remained active in civic and cultural affairs later in his life. He wrote several scholarly and popular articles on agriculture, history, and law.

Allmond found his artistic calling later in life, working primarily in carved stone and wood sculpture. He was inspired by the natural world and went on to serve as president of the Society of Animal Artists, an international organization of painters and sculptors who depict living creatures in their work. His sculptures have been exhibited in the United States, Canada, and Sweden, where the work has received critical acclaim. Allmond is represented in public, corporate, and private collections and has received regional and national honors.
