Joan Barber is an American painter recognized for her figurative and narrative works that often feature women in surreal, patterned settings. She studied at the Museum Art School in Portland, graduating in 1963, and has exhibited widely across the United States. Working primarily in oil on linen or canvas, Barber combines storytelling and psychological depth in her imagery. She currently lives and works in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
