Michael Ananian is an American painter and Professor of Art at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he has taught since 1994. He earned a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design (1987) and an MFA in Painting from Yale University (1990). Working in oils, casein, charcoal, ink, and digital media, Ananian focuses on portraiture and narrative imagery, often drawing inspiration from memory and music.
