From the Collection of the late Nina Ayala Mallory Ronaldo de Juan was an Argentine painter recognized for his role in second-generation Abstract Expressionism. Born in Córdoba, Argentina, he studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of the National University of Córdoba and was an early member of the Grupo de Pintores Modernos de Córdoba, exhibiting alongside Antonio Seguí, Raúl Pecker, Pedro Pont Vergés, and Marcelo Bonevardi.
Initially working in figurative painting, de Juan later developed a dynamic abstract style characterized by bold color and strong compositional contrasts. In 1970, he was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, further establishing his international reputation. He exhibited widely, including regular shows at the Lerner-Heller Gallery in New York, and his works are represented in major public collections such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. De Juan lived and worked in New York until his death in 1989.
