Paris, third quarter 19th century, featuring a cast and patinated metal figure of a seated Renaissance gentleman holding an ewer, the drum form case with round dial having Roman chapters, French brass 8-days works with countwheel and suspension spring, signed "G. Schmoll / Paris" with medallion stamp of "Vincent & Cie / Medaille D' Argent / 1855," ornate pendulum mounted with classical relief medallion marked "Ministere De L'Intererieur / Actes De Devouement / Morizot Pierre / 1852" mounted atop a white marble base.

10 1/2 x 13 1/2 x 5 in.

The pendulum on this clock features a rare medallion mount, the casting is similar to the Médaille du ministère de l'Intérieur pour acte de dévouement medallion made by Jean Jacques Barre (Paris, 1793-1855) in the collection of the Louvre, inventory number OAP 2978.

Some rubbing to patina; drum upper mount is detached but present, with crack to upper element; rear upper corner of marble with crack and repair.
