Arthur George Walker was a British sculptor and painter best known for his public monuments and war memorials. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools and built a career creating works that combined classical training with a sensitivity to contemporary themes. Walker’s commissions included the Edith Cavell Memorial at St. Martin’s Place, London, one of his most recognized works, as well as memorials across the United Kingdom honoring those who served in the First World War.
Board with slight bow and brittle due to moisture exposure over time; chipping and flaking to edges of board, chip to paint surface at center right edge; drying crackle to paint; surface grime; stable separation to frame corners.
