Circa 1840, mahogany veneer, walnut, poplar and yellow pine secondary, rectangular mirror with paneled frame supported by tapered stiles, over a stepped compartment with two convex drawers flanking a small flush drawer, the case with an upper convex drawer over three recessed graduated flush drawers flanked by S-scrolled stiles, scrolled front feet, paneled sides, straight rear legs.
Approximately 81 x 43 x 22 in.
This chest has woods and stylistic attributes similar to the shop of Thomas Day of Milton, North Carolina.
So found estate condition; old surface with staining and wear; some small veneer chips; upper small central drawer with patch where original lock was; other drawers missing locks; later glass to mirror.
